Braking energy recovery systems

Most trains and electric vehicles have a system that converts braking energy into electrical energy. The electrical power can be stored on board using capacitors or injected into the network catenary.

Jema Energy can provide a system where the braking recovery system can return power to the grid or store it in a persistent storage system.

Systems connected to 750, 1500 or 3000 V for recovering braking energy in DC trains.

Jema provides a complete range of STATCOMs from 1 Mvar to 40 Mvar (increasable using parallel devices), for integration in renewable plant grids.

  • Two product ranges: LV for power between 1 and 6 Mvar and a multi-level MV system from 10 to 40 Mvar.
  • Compact systems up to 40 Mvar in a 40-foot container.
  • MMC Systems with integrated redundancy (hot spare).
  • Air / water cooling.

Smart grids are the key for developing renewable energy technology, integrating electric vehicles and improving the efficiency of electric energy efficiency. Consequently, that means drawing attention to a new electrical grid concept consisting of a grid that’s transformed, in terms of both transmission and distribution, using bi-directional communications systems. Furthermore, the concept itself includes several applications that improve the capacity to supervise and monitor power grids.
